Night mode

An opt-in mode that keeps a stop armed while the US market is closed, using a 30-minute TWAP and a wider drop.

Night mode keeps your stop watching while the real exchange is closed. It is off by default and set per position.

Why it exists

Stock Tokens trade on Robinhood Chain around the clock. The Chainlink feed that Rind uses during market hours freezes when the exchange closes. Without a fresh reference, a stop has two choices: sleep, or read a different price.

By default Rind sleeps. That is the safe choice. It also means a large overnight move is only acted on at the next open.

Night mode is the other choice. It lets the stop act on overnight on-chain trading, with extra protection against noise.

How it works

When Night mode is on and the market is closed:

  1. The reference price becomes a 30-minute time-weighted average price (TWAP) from the Uniswap pool for that Stock Token.
  2. Your drop widens by 3 points.
  3. The high-water mark continues from where it was. A higher TWAP raises it.
  4. When the market reopens, the reference switches back to the Chainlink feed and the drop returns to normal.

Why a TWAP

Off-hours pools are thin. A single large swap can move the spot price far for a few blocks. A 30-minute TWAP averages price over time, so a short spike or dip has a small effect. Moving a TWAP for a sustained period costs real capital, which makes manipulation expensive.

Why the wider drop

Even a TWAP is noisier than an exchange feed at night. The extra 3 points give the price more room, so normal overnight drift does not fire your stop. A real move, such as a large drop after earnings, still clears the wider band.

What it does not change

  • The exit fee is the same 0.20%, or 0.10% staked.
  • The slippage cap still applies. Thin pools may mean partial fills, deferred to the next window.
  • Halts and issuer pauses still freeze the position. See Halts, pauses and freezes.

How to opt in or out

Toggle Night mode when you open a position, or change it on an open position at any time. The change applies from the next observation. It does not reset the high-water mark.

Night mode is planned for Phase 3 of the roadmap. The demo app already simulates it so you can see the effect on the trigger.
